This exam is used to assess the electrical impulse of your heart during daily activities. This test is for irregular heartbeats. During this test a monitor will be attached to you for 24 hours. Five electrodes will be placed on your chest (similar to an EKG). A small box is attached to the electrodes with wires. This box collects the information from your heartbeat during the 24-hour period. The box is returned to the office the next day and a special machine interprets the information so any change of your heartbeat can be identified.
There is no special preparation for this exam.
